TC486/TC386 - IEEE1000 Processor Module

• Drives CRT & LCD displays simultaneously
• Programmable frequency synthesiser
• Standard 18 bit LCD signal interface
• 16 and 24 bits/pixel colour options
• On-board Vee generator for mono LCDs
• Socketed on-board VGA BIOS
• Supplied with utilities disk

The TV750 VGA graphics adaptor uses the 65535 Vampire VGA controller chip from Chips and Technologies. The 65535 controller supports CRTs and a wide variety of flat panel displays including colour and mono LCD, EL and plasma. Designed for use with 16 bit PC/104 boards, the TV750 is an ideal graphics interface for the TC386/486/586 range of processors.

As standard the TV750 is fitted with 512k DRAM and there is space for an additional 512k DRAM enabling very high VGA resolutions. The TV750 has a socket for the VGA BIOS so that it can be used with PC104 modules. Alternafively the video BIOS can be combined with the PC/AT system BIOS on the processor board.

CRT Displays
The TV750 provides high quality super VGA graphics for CRT displays.

Flat Panel Displays
The TV750 can drive a wide range of displays including VGA and quarter VGA formats. Most mono and colour flat panels are supported including STN, TFT and Electroluminescent displays. Displays are simple to interface using the instructions in the technical reference manual.

The TV750 provides a Vee generator which is required for mono LCDS. This voltage (and the LCD contrast) can be adjusted using variable resistors. In addition pins which adjust the voltage are available on the connector. These pins can be connected to general purpose I/O pins to provide software control of the LCD contrast. Signals are available for powering on and off external backlight power supplies and the power to the flat panel.

Simultaneous LCD and CRT
Another useful feature, especially during development, is that the board will support a flat panel display and CRT simultaneously.
