TP406 - PC/104 Compliant Digital I/O Module

The TP406 is a general purpose digital I/O and counter/timer board. It provides 40 lines of programmable I/O and six counter/timers.

The TP406 is an I/O mapped module. It occupies 16 user selectable I/0 addresses.

Interrupts
The timers can interrupt on IRQ2, IRQ5, IR06 and IRQ7.

Parallel I/0
The parallel I/0 is provided by two 8255 chips with each providing three eight bit ports. The outputs of five ports are buffered with 74ACT245 chips to provide 24mA source/sink capability. The sixth port provides buffer direction and enable control signals for the five buffered ports.

The I/0 signals are routed to two connectors. One is a standard pinout for signal conditioning modules and the other is designed for direct connection to Opto-22 opto-isolated modules. Up to 24 modules can be driven.

Timers
Six 16-bit counter timers are implemented in two 8254 counter timer chips. They can be used as timers, counters, square wave generators or pulse generators. Each channel has clock and gate inputs and an output. These three signals for each channel are available on a connector. A buffered version of the PC/104 clock is available on a connector pin and this signal can be connected to timer clock input pins. Timers can also generate interrupts to the processor board.
